Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest is the longest-running televised song competition where (mostly) members of the European Broadcasting Union enter musical acts to the annual event in a bid to win the nation’s hearts (and votes) and be crowned champion.

The United Kingdom last won in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves, with many citing the show as “too political” in recent years. Despite this, and a fall in ratings, Eurovision still pulls in a total global audience of 182 million for the two semi-finals and grand final.
