Andy Cohen has done those who love reality television an amazing service in bringing his Real Housewives franchise to the world.
Whether we’re enjoying the glitz and glamour of Beverly Hills, or the chaos and crazies in Dallas, there are plenty of personalities who have ensured they’ll never be forgotten by those who have watched them.
With that in mind, we’ve whittled down the 5 most iconic Real Housewives of all time.
5. Teresa Giudice
Let’s face it, when we think of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, the first scene that pops into the head of all those who have been with the series since its initial season is Giudice attempted to flip a table during an argument with Danielle Staub.
In recent years however, Teresa and Danielle have managed to put all of that animosity aside, and become incredibly good friends. In fact, their relationship is something that really caused friction between Teresa and her other pal, Dolores Catania, who doesn’t trust Danielle one iota.
4. NeNe Leakes
NeNe is a rare breed of Real Housewife, in that she was in The Real Housewives of Atlanta from the start, before being retired from the show, only to be brought back at a later date because of the lack of action.
Bringing compelling scenes, arguments and drama whenever she’s around, NeNe has been through a lot. She’s had her ups and downs like most of the wives, but bounced back and shined more than most of the others (see video below).
3. Caroline Manzo
Caroline Manzo may not be a member of The Real Housewives world any more, but we all fell in love with her and the brilliant Manzo family when she did appear.
She would have brilliant advice for her friends and even those who would dare go up against her, and though she had a season where the viewers seemed to turn on her because of alleged bad attitude, she managed to turn it around again before leaving the New Jersey branch of the franchise for good.
We hope she makes a return in the future; it’s never been the same without her.
2. Lisa Vanderpump
British export Lisa Vanderpump may have been called a manipulator by her fellow Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast members, but we can’t bring ourselves to believe it.
Her charm and British wit is constantly taken the wrong way—Americans just don’t get British humour!—and she’s been involved in feuds with many of those she stars alongside, but she always manages to come out on top, keeping her class and elegance and remaining the Queen of the Real Housewives franchise.
1. Bethenny Frankel
When we first met Bethenny Frankel, she was the least “well-off” member of the Real Housewives of New York City cast. Living in a small flat, but with big dreams of a Skinnygirl empire, we saw her flourish and go from strength to strength in front of the cameras.
That success is something that has earned her millions, but also seen jealousy seep to the forefront of her conversations with other wives. She’s not one to back down from a fight however, and comes back with some of the most vicious and biting barbs—but memorable catchphrases—the franchise has ever seen (see video above).
