Best alternative X Factor auditions from around the world

The X Factor usually is home to chart-topping covers and mainstream genres.

However, from time to time we are treated to a gem of an alternative song.

They may not be as common as we would like, but we can still enjoy some of the better alternative auditions in the list below.

5. Eddie Strings — The Strokes (Last night)

In 2012 then 19-year-old Eddie Strings (see image above) hit the audition stage with a cocky swagger and a rock stars perm to perform rock classic Last Night by the Strokes.

All the girls in the audience melted as the Brighton lad paraded round the stage like he was born to do it.

He got four yeses despite Gary Barlow saying his personality "is on the edge of annoying".

4.  Joseph Whelan — Led Zeppelin (Whole Lotta Love)

Sounding like a mixture of Robert Plant and Myles Kennedy is no easy feat, but in 2012, 26-year-old Joseph Whelan did just that.

With an epic cover of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love, Joseph stunned the audience and judges.

Tulisa and Mel B were tripping over themselves to praise the Wolverhampton native.

Gary Barlow even had a hint of jealousy in his eye young Joseph hit some of the high notes in the rock classic.

3. Milena Ordean — AC/DC (Highway to Hell)

During season 6 of the Romanian X Factor, young Milena Ordean absolutely belted out an epic cover of the Australian hard rock band AC/DC’s Highway to hell.

Sporting a sunburst bass guitar, the young singer hit notes that some professional rock vocalists struggle to hit.

2. Mr Freeman Band — Subways (Rock N Roll Queen)

Unlike the UK Version of X Factor, many other countries allow full bands on.

Russia is no exception — and in 2016 played host to the young rock quartet Mr FreeMan Band who graced the stage with a cover of Rock n Roll Queen by the Subways.

They received a standing ovation from the crowd and sailed through the auditions.

1. Julia Rezende — Evanescence (My Immortal)

Brazil native Julia Rezende treated her national show to a cover of Evanescence’s My Immortal that even Amy Lee would be proud of.

With a note perfect cover, the 17-year-old Brazilian shocked everyone in the room—and probably most of Brazil.

She later was placed in a group on the show called Ravena, who are still touring and releasing music.
