Celebrity Big Brother 2018: When does it start and who's going in the house?

Friday 3rd August 2018

Celebrity Big Brother is just around the corner and there are a host of names rumoured to set foot into the famous bungalow.

The summer edition of the reality series kicks off on August 16 and is themed ‘eye of the storm’, meaning that there are, of course, going to be some controversial housemates.

Show bosses say that this year viewers can expect, “fireworks, fun and definitely a few storms”.

The latest teaser trailer hints that this series will feature ‘liars' and 'frauds’. Phrases such as 'fraud', 'lies, lies, lies', 'notorious VIP' and 'never forgive, never forget' flash up on the screen.

Here are some of the latest rumoured famous faces to have signed up for the Channel 5 show…

Samantha Markle

We may as well start with the most controversial name on the list. Meghan Markle’s half sister has come under fire lately former revealing interviews about the Duchess of Sussex’s marriage to Prince Harry while plugging her new book.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Samantha, 53, didn’t deny the rumours she was going to appear, saying: “I’ve worked in media most of my life, why would I not? Why would I stop living because I have a family issue going on?”

Stormy Daniels

Another housemate sure to get viewers talking is this American actress, aka Stephanie Clifford, who famously made kiss and tell claims against US president Donald Trump, who denies it.

She came out with claims that they had sex back in 2006, and he’s been trying to hush her ever since.

Chloe Ayling

Model Chloe made headlines when she revealed she had been the victim of a kidnap plot. She recently spoke out following the conviction of her kidnapper to deny rumours she’s going into the house, but let’s be honest, that doesn’t mean anything.

An insider told The Sun: "Chloe has previously said that she wouldn't do reality TV, but she is in talks to do the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.

"The premise of the series is retribution and people who have been wronged, so she definitely fits the bill from that perspective."

Debbie McGee

Bookmaker Coral has slashed the odds on Debbie entering the house to just 4/1 (from 12/1) after receiving a flurry of bets.

The widow of magician Paul Daniels—who impressed in last year’s Strictly Come Dancing with partner Giovanni Pernice—is also tipped to be a potential winner.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “Debbie McGee proved hugely popular on Strictly Come Dancing last winter and it’s clear that she would prove an incredibly likeable addition to the Big Brother house this summer.

“If she did enter we think she’d be a frontrunner to go all the way and win it.”

Brendan Cole

Also on the Strictly theme, outgoing judge Brendan is expected to walk through the famous doors. Ok he previously said he’d never do it, but they all say that, don’t they? He left Strictly after 14 years and this could be the perfect time for him to set straight a few stories.

Jermaine Pennant

Ex-Birmingham footballer Jermaine has reportedly signed for the show, if you believe the Sun newspaper.

The winger, who’s also played for Liverpool and Arsenal, wants to proved he’s a “changed man” following a drink driving charge in 2005.

Simon Cowell’s ex is always on this list, and never actually ends up going in.

The former pop star has already appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (see video below), Celebrity MasterChef and The X Factor, so could CBB be the next?

Paris Lees

Transgender activist Paris is best known for TV appearances on Question Time and The Wright Stuff.

Despite her obvious passion for current affairs, she’s actually a big fan of the show, and has appeared on Bit on the Side before.

Other names on the list include TV psychic Sally Morgan, Jonathan Van Ness from Netflix series Queer Eye, Love Island's Gabby Allen, and Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas.

Celebrity Big Brother: Eye of the Storm returns on August 16 from 9pm on Channel 5.
