Dancing on Ice’s most memorable moments

Wednesday 5th December 2018

With the return of Dancing on Ice right around the corner, we’ve decided to take a look back at some of the best and most shocking moments we’ve seen throughout the years the series has been on air.

It may have had a break before its comeback in 2018, but it’s certainly managed to leave an impact on the world of reality TV.

See if you can recall all of these memorable moments…

1. Karen Barber’s had enough of Jason Gardiner

Jason Gardiner is without a doubt one of the most offensive judges on any panel show, period. His criticism is sometimes constructive, but a lot of the time is simply there to tear down whoever’s putting on the best show possible.

Sure, it makes for compelling, must-see television, but when Karen moved to head coach on the show rather than taking a spot on the judging panel, he attempted to use that against her.

Telling her that she would still be a judge if her opinion mattered, Karen got up out of her seat and approached Jason, saying that she couldn’t hear him over the crowd.

Honestly, we thought she was ready to give him a backhand, but luckily host Holly Willoughby was able to intervene and state that Karen had more than earned the right to give her opinion.

2. Todd Carty’s literal skate-off

Let’s face it, Todd was never the best skater on the show, but he provided some brilliant entertainment whenever given the opportunity.

The one moment everybody still talks about to this day is when he couldn’t stop himself from sliding right across the rink, and out through the tunnel to the backstage training area! It was a golden slice of television, and when he emerged back out in front of the audience to complete his routine, the cheers were raucous!

3. Jennifer Ellison cuts her own head

Jennifer was an incredibly talented skater during her time on the series, but made a major mistake during the end of one of her routine when she flicked up her leg behind her.

She raised her leg so high that the blade on her foot actually connected with her head, and cut it open (see video below).

It was the first time a contestant had bled on the show, and really proved just how dangerous the sport can be.

4. Sebastian Foucan's breakdown

Finding himself in the bottom two, Sebastian had to take part in a twisted skate-off that saw the celebrities forced to perform a series of tricks in a bid to remain in the competition.

Though he started off strong, the middle of his routine saw him pretty much give up, as he slowly skated aimlessly around the rink.

When the music stopped, he went to take his spot in front of the panel before breaking down in tears. It was hard to watch.

5. David Seaman dropping his dance partner

Rehearsals were a dangerous place for David's professional skating partner during the very first series of the show, when the former footballer dropped her during an attempt of the "headbanger".

Thankfully she was rushed to hospital and made a full recovery.
