Does this prove that Sam Bird and Georgia Steel have quit Love Island?

Thursday 19th July 2018

Rumours that Sam Bird and Georgia Steel have quit Love Island are being fuelled by the bookmakers taking them out of the betting markets.

The pair—who split up to stay in the villa following a vote earlier this week—are noticeably absent from the ‘winning couple’, ‘top boy’ and ‘top girl’ odds lists.

This means that bookies are no longer taking bets on them winning the show, suggesting they are no longer in the running.

Speculation that they have left the villa began on Wednesday but ITV is keeping tight lipped about what has happened ahead of tonight’s recoupling.

As it stands Jack Fincham And Dani Dyer are still odds on to win the show in all three markets (1/6) while Josh Denzel And Kazimir Crossley’s odds have shortened dramatically overnight to 3/1.

The only other official couple, Wes Nelson And Megan Barton-Hanson, have moved up from rank outsiders to 20/1.

Reality Bite contact ITV2, who said they would not be commenting on speculation.

Elsewhere in the betting, Paddy Power and Betfair have  created a special market for tonight’s show: ‘words to be shown/said on Thursday’s episode’ (see below to bet).

These include: Georgia to say the word ‘loyal’ (1/33), Someone to say ‘babe’ (4/6), and Laura Anderson to cry (8/1).

If that’s not up your street, you can go for: A discussion about Brexit (66/1), or Alex to refer to himself as ‘the love doctor’ (125/1).

Another market from Coral makes Love Island 2018 heavily odds on at 1/5 to be the most watched series the show has ever had.

2017’s series had an average viewership of 2.52 million, the current highest, and with this series having already pulled in 3.84m to date it looks a forgone conclusion.

“This series of Love Island is set to smash the previous viewing figures, and it just goes to show how popular the show is.

“From a betting point of view there will be plenty of Coral customers collecting their winnings if hot favourites Jack and Dani go all the way and win the show.

“The pair were around 4/1 at the start of the competition but it’s been near enough one way traffic and they look certain to claim the prize now,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

Coral are offering odds of 4/1 that Jack and Dani get engaged before the end of 2018.

Odds correct at time of writing and may be taken down at bookmakers' discretion.
