'Give upskirting the Chope!' Lisa Appleton has a message for 'sexist' Conservative MP

Monday 18th June 2018

Lisa Appleton has a message for the Conservative MP who blocked the criminalisation of “upskirting” last week.

The reality TV star has blasted Sir Christopher Chope for being “sexist”, saying in her latest Reality Bite blog that men wouldn't put up with it if roles were reversed.

The 71-year-old MP for Christchurch in Dorset shouted down the Voyeurism (Offences) Bill that would have criminalised an act that Theresa May branded "invasive" and "degrading".

Lisa, 50, loves wearing revealing attire—but she says this does not mean that paparazzi have the right to stick their cameras up her skirt.

“Us women love to wear mini skirts, long skirts,” she says in her video, below. “We have free will to do that and it doesn’t give anyone the right to take pictures up our skirts.”

If passed, the bill would would bring the punishment for upskirting in line with other existing voyeurism offences, meaning offenders could face up to two years in prison.

Lisa said: “I tell you what, fellas—why don’t you wear skirts and we will take pictures of your knackers, hairy balls and widgies and see if you think that’s ok?

“Christopher Chope, get a skirt on  and we’ll take a pic of yours. I’m sure you’d be made up if your private bits were all over the internet.”

She later told Reality Bite that Chope was "sexist" for his actions.
