International's Got Talent? Former semi-finalists support show’s decision to include non-UK acts

Britain’s Got Talent is back and fans can’t get enough of the bonkers, brilliant, and downright bizarre acts that have so far graced our screens.

And Reality Bite columnists Father and Son, aka Graham and James Edgington who were semi-finalists in 2010, are quick to notice a shift in the kinds of acts that are taking part.

On Saturday’s show, many of the contestants hoping for the chance to perform in front of the royal family were not from the UK, and had flown in especially to audition.

Vlogging from Barcelona (see below), James said: “The thing we picked up on the most is it’s not just Britain’s Got Talent, it’s International’s Got Talent.

“We had acts from Vietnam, Romania, Lancashire, Barcelona… The Ireland came into the fold with Father Ray Kelly.”

The pair’s favourite act from episode two was stand-up comedian Lee Ridley, 37, aka the Lost Voice Guy, so called because cerebral palsy has left him unable to speak.

The 37-year-old performed his comedy routine using an iPad, with judge David Walliams telling him it was one of the "best stand-up routines" he had ever seen.

Graham said: “I had a lump in my throat all the time. To have the guts to stand up and do that.

"Bizarrely enough we were talking recently about a female comedian with cerebral palsy. Barcelona is so embracing as a city, you don't notice there are disabled people or old people—everyone is so self embracing.

"It's great to see Britain's Got Talent is doing the same."

Britain's Got Talent continues on Saturday on ITV.
