Jake Quickenden skated to victory in the Dancing on Ice final – and his early backers will be rubbing their hands with glee.
Some bookmakers, including Coral, face a big pay-out after the hot favourite was crowned ice champion of the ITV series.
The reality star was heavily backed from the start at 3/1 before the show had even started, ending up odds-on with four weeks to go and being 1/6 before last night’s finale.
He was also a favourite with judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Jason Gardiner throughout this series.
Sunday’s final saw Quickenden beat actress Brooke Vincent, who came second, and rugby player Max Evans, who was third.
“There’s sure to of been plenty of punters dancing in their living rooms last night as Jake was heavily backed throughout the series. There was hardly a moment of worry and despite a bad result for the bookmakers he was certainly a worthy winner,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
Jason Gardiner threw his future into doubt last night after announcing that he wasn’t sure if he would be back for the next series, and Coral makes the judge odds on at 10-11 that he will not judge on Dancing on Ice 2019.
“After last night we think it’s beginning to look difficult for Jason Gardiner to return for another series and at the moment expect him to be notable by absence next year,” added Aitkenhead.
