Lydia Lucy reveals she's disappointed she didn't see 'fiery battles' on The Voice UK

Monday 26th February 2018

It was the first round of the battles on The Voice UK on the weekend – but despite the build up Lydia Lucy thinks there was something lacking.

The 2016 finalist of the singing show thought that some of the singing pairs sounded like they were duets rather than battling to stay in the competition.

From their strong blind auditions, each act had to prove what they’re made of by singing with another member of their team to coaches Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones.

The winner stays in the competition while the loser from the pair an be ‘stolen’ by another coach, or sent home.

“I was a little disappointed that I didn’t see more fiery battles,” she said in her vlog (below). “You know, really giving it to their partner.

“Next week I’m hoping to see more explosive battles.”

On Team Olly, Holly Ellison beat Chris James following their battle singing I Would Do Anything for Love by Meatloaf.

Elisa won her battle with Courtney O’Neil in Team Tom, while Lucy Milburn beat Simon Davies.

On Team Will, Mark Asari beat Loaded Sista, Tai beat Kade Smith and Donel Mangena beat Abrey.

Over on Team J Hud, Belle Voci beat Scarlett Quigley.

Rihanna and Kade were given a second chance though – Jennifer and Olly stole them respectively.

Listen to Lydia's thoughts on all acts in her video below.
