Obscure Game of Thrones facts you might not have heard before

We've got such a long wait until the eights and final series of Game of Thrones, it only seems fair to completely obsess about it until it's back on our screens.

Here are some little known facts about the series, based on Gorge RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books...

1. Lina Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Jerome Flynn (Bronn of the Blackwater) will never be on screen at the same time. It's reportedly written in their contracts that they never have to be in the same set as each other due to a bad break-up while they were dating.

2. Ben Hawkey (Hot Pie) actually opened a real-life e-bakery and sold Direwolf bread – just like in the series. The bakery was called “You know nothing Jon Dough” and was located in London. You had to order them through popular food delivery service Deliveroo – but before you get too excited, the bakery is no longer accepting orders.

3. After the pilot aired, David Benioff called Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and told him the show had been cancelled. He let The Imp think he had to look for another job for six hours before letting him know the truth.

4. Ian Whyte, the actor who played Wun Wun (The Giant that broke into Winterfell for Jon Snow at the Battle of Bastards) also played Sir Gregor Clegane, better known as the Mountain, during series two.

5. In 2014 a company called Living Language released a course on how to speak Dothraki.

6. Michelle Fairley, or Caitlyn Stark as she is more commonly known these days, also appeared as Hermione Granger's muggle mother in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1.

7. Alfie Allen who plays Theon Greyjoy apparently claimed his famous sister Lily Allen lied about being offered the part of Yara Greyjoy. The singer initially claimed that she turned down the part of Yara because of the incestuous scenes between the two characters.

8. The most expensive death in Game of Thrones belongs to Meryn Trant (see video above), which took place in the Bravosi Brothel. Due to the amazing amount of CGI and makeup effects involved, “Meryn F***ing Trant” wins this argument.

9. Natalia Tena, the actress who played Osha, has another talent other than acting. She plays accordion and sings in a band called Molotov Jukebox.

10. Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, aka The Mountain, is actually a gentle giant in real life. Sure he is big and strong but in reality he wouldn’t hurt a fly. If you follow his Instagram account he owns a tiny pomeranian he calls his lion. He also did a hilarious advert for sparkling water company Heavy Bubbles (see below).
