Royal baby: When is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first born due?

Friday 26th October 2018

The pregnancy’s only just been announced but already speculation about the royal baby’s birth date is dominating specials betting markets.

Bookmakers have slashed the odds of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby to be born in April, following a string of bets this week.

This comes after Meghan was spotted wearing a trio of rings at an Invictus Games event in Australia, with one in green to symbolise her August birthday, a blue sapphire for Harry’s September birthday and a diamond—which could represent her baby’s due date.

Paddy Power now make April the most likely month of birth at 6/4, followed by May (2/1) and March (3/1).

Wednesday is the current favourite day of the week for the birth, meaning the baby will potentially have a birthday of April 3, 10, 17 or 24—the day after his or her cousin Prince Louis' first birthday.

And, with many fans speculating that Meghan could be pregnant with twins, it’s now rated a 12/1 chance – in from 33/1 when the baby announcement was made.

Diana still remains the top-rated name, at 8/1, with Arthur and Alice shortening slightly from 13/1 at the start of the week into 12/1.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “With eagle-eyed fans spotting Meghan’s bling, we’ve seen a series of bets on the Royal Baby being born in April 2019, leapfrogging May which was our favourite initially.

“And, as punters stake their cash on an April born baby, we’ve also seen plenty of money on twins.”
