Royal wedding: Here's a round up of TV coverage for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials

Tuesday 15th May 2018

The royal wedding is only days away and terrestrial and satellite channels are competing to offer the best and most interesting coverage.

All eyes will be on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they say “I do” on Saturday, May 19 in front of the entire world.

So if you can’t make it down to Windsor for the real thing, fear not, all your favourite channels have it covered.

BBC One’s live coverage presenters have been confirmed as Kirsty Young, Huw Edwards, Dermot O'Leary, Tina Daheley, Alex Jones, Ore Oduba and Anita Rani.

Kicking off the weekend on Friday night will be a look-ahead show called The Royal Wedding: They’re Getting Married In The Morning with Kirsty, Huw and Dermot.

Then on Saturday, the main live programme, The Royal Wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will air on BBC One and BBC One HD on Saturday 19 May, 9am until 2pm.

The live broadcast will also be shown on the BBC News Channel and streamed live on BBC iPlayer.

Later in the evening, BBC Two will look back on the day with live programme, The Royal Wedding: Highlights of the Day on Saturday, May 19 from 6.30pm until 8pm.

On Radio 2, Chris Evans will lead coverage, with special editions of Radio 4’s Today programme and BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast all broadcast live from Windsor.

Julie Etchingham and Phillip Schofield will present the live programmes for ITV’s coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from a specially constructed studio that will sit among the excited crowds at Windsor.

Other presenters and correspondents chipping in throughout the programme include Mary Nightingale, Royal Editor Chris Ship, Nina Hossain and Charlotte Hawkins.

They will be with wedding guests and the public in Windsor, and around the country, as they come together to celebrate.

James Mates will lead service commentary and Rageh Omaar will exclusively join Sentebale, the charity co-founded by Prince Harry, for celebrations in Lesotho.

ITV1, 9.25am until 3.00pm

Sky News is upping the ante by being the only broadcaster in the world to show the Royal Wedding live in Ultra HD via Sky Q.

If that isn’t enough, the Sky News app will be revealing the names of key wedding guests as they arrive, detailing their connection to the royal couple.

The coverage starts on 9am on Saturday, May 19 and will also be available on Sky One, where reporters will be around the country at street parties and picnics and overseas in Los Angeles and Toronto.

Sky News/Sky One, from 9am

Channel 4

If the idea of watching Harry and Meghan tie the knot makes you want to throw things, head over to Channel 4 where you can enjoy some comedy—all at the royal family’s expense.

Outrageous satirical comedy The Windsors returns for a Royal Wedding Special to celebrate the nuptials of the year.

Throw in Harry disappearing while on an alcohol-free stag night that Meghan has insisted on organising for him—will they make it to the church on time?
