Say You’ll Be There Victoria: Could the Spice Girls reunite as a 5-piece after all?

Monday 5th November 2018

Pop’s worst kept secret is out—the Spice Girls are getting back together for a reunion tour in 2019.

Well, most of them are.

Geri ‘Ginger’ Horner, Mel ‘Scary’ Brown, Mel ’Sporty’ Chisholm and Emma ‘Baby’ Bunton have all signed up for what is expected to be the tour of the decade.

Victoria Beckham, noticeably absent from the line-up. However, it looks like there’s a chance she could do a U-turn and join the rest of the girls on stage after all.

Despite her shunning the reunion, Paddy Power has it at just 6/4 that VB changes her mind and rejoins the group at any point—even for one performance.

The last time all five were on stage singing together was at the Olympics opening ceremony in 2012 (see video below).

The bookie makes it odds-on at 1/4 — around an 80 per cent chance — that the Spice Girls are a headline act at next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

And, with a series of arena tours set to attract thousands of fans, it’s 5/1 that the group play the single biggest gig concert of all time, surpassing Oasis at Knebworth and Queen at Hyde Park.

As Spice Mania is set to ramp up over the coming months, the bookies are tipping a surge in babies named after the stars, with Geri rated 6/1 to be in the top five most popular girls’ names in 2019.

The band have not played together since the closing of the London Olympics in 2012, and another break-up within six months is rated 10/1, or 4/1 within a year.
