'Snaky' James Middleton sheds tears after going behind Ryan Cleary's back – but are they genuine?

Wednesday 14th February 2018

James Middleton showed his snaky side on Survival of the Fittest after going behind his pal’s back to pursue a romantic encounter with Georgie Clarke.

And it looks like he's going to have to do some serious grovelling if he's to claw back any trust from his teammates.

It all started on Tuesday’s show when the sports media manager showed no remorse for going behind Ryan Cleary’s back to show his interest in Georgie, despite earlier telling him that he’d stand aside and let him go first.

Middleton – who used to date I’m a Celebrity winner Georgia “Toff” Toffolo – said he didn’t think it was important to tell his team mate of his plans to go for it with her himself.

The 24-year-old said: "I've decided I'm going to step my game up with Georgie.

"I know Ryan likes her but I've been watching them and I don't think she vibes him as much. He is following her around a little bit."

He added later: "I like Ryan but personally, I don't think I need to tell Ryan what I'm going to do with Georgie."

Viewers slammed his actions as “snaky” and “two-faced” and were criticised for going against the unwritten “bro code” where men don’t choose women over each other.

Tensions continue to rise in tonight’s show after he tells the tree house: “This is Survival of the Fittest. If two guys like one girl, whichever guys get there first and gets the girl, then so be it.

“That’s the way it should be, that’s the way it is.”

But Ryan is [thankfully] onto him – and opens up in the tree house before approaching James in person.

“I didn’t feel like James was coming across to me as genuine,” he says. “I just noticed something that made me think ‘Are you being as genuine as you make out to be?’”

The pair then go for a heart to heart, where James says he could “drop Georgie in a heartbeat” to save his relationship with Ryan – and the rest of the boys.

James later has a weep in the tree house about how he has contributed to the drama in the boys’ team – but it’s unknown as to how genuine the tears are.

Survival of the Fittest continues on ITV2 on Wednesday at 9pm.
