Northern fans of the Spice Girls rejoice! The band’s highly anticipated exhibition is coming to Manchester.

The event, dubbed #SpiceUpManchester, will feature thousands of items of memorabilia from the Girl Power group’s heyday.

The group, featuring Geri Horner (nee Halliwell), Mel Brown, Mel Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham, scored an impressive nine UK number one singles and two number one albums, selling 85 million records worldwide, so it’s fair to say they made their mark during their years together.

Fans can see in the flesh a huge selection of the girls’ stage costumes, including the iconic Buffalo platform boots worn by Mel B, as well as take a nostalgic look back at just how successful the girl band were.

The exhibition has been put together by Alan Smith-Allison who teamed up with Spice Girls collectors from around the world, including Manchester’s own Guinness World Record holder, artist Liz West, who owns more than 5,000 individual items ranging from branded crisp packets and clocks, to the jacket Mel B herself wore to meet Nelson Mandela.

Smith-Allison, the curator of the event, said: “After the phenomenal reaction to #SpiceUpLondon, and the massive appetite for unapologetic cheesy feel-good fun, the SpiceUp exhibition is delighted to announce the second stop of our UK tour will be Manchester.

“The biggest music exhibition ever has just become the biggest touring music exhibition ever! Hold on to your knickers Manchester, Girl Power is coming at ya.”

If that's not enough to get you singing Wannabe like you're 15 years old again, the red bus that featured in Spiceworld: The Movie will also be making an appearance, taking pride of place at the entrance to the exhibition, which will take place at Manchester Central Convention Centre (Gmex).

The owners of the bus are bringing it back to its former glory after years of neglect, which fans can donate towards to get their name added to a plaque which will be added to the interior once the restorations are complete.

Spice Up Manchester will take place at Manchester Central Convention Centre (Gmex) between August 24 and September 4.

Tickets for #SpiceUpManchester are on sale now from here.
