The 5 worst Strictly Come Dancing contestants

Wednesday 17th October 2018

Strictly Come Dancing contestants are known for their real mix of talent.

Some of the celebrities are naturals, such as Stacey Dooley.

Other contestants have years of dancing backgrounds, like Ashley Roberts.

There are several, however, who are just plain pants (sorry Susannah Constantine).

Taking the term two left feet to a whole new level, here are the five worst celebrities ever to have taken to the Strictly dancefloor.

5.  Kate Garraway

Poor Kate might be one of the beauties of breakfast TV but her dancing was not quite as attractive. Managing to gain some of the lowest scores in Strictly history, she managed to somehow make it to week seven thanks to public support.

Every time she wasn’t being led by partner Anton Du Beke, Kate appeared to be doing her own thing with some of the most robotic legs we have ever seen.

She seemed to be having fun though, and that’s what counts, right?

4. John Sargent

With all the rhythm of a drunk being kicked out of the bookies, John Sargent gave us absolute gold during the 2008 series. Stomping across the ballroom while dragging partner Kristina Rihanoff behind him like he was a caveman taking her back to his abode.

After much protest from the judges, John ultimately quit the show, which is a shame, as he's such a well respected broadcaster it was sad to exit on bad terms.

3. Nancy Dell’Olio

On series nine of Strictly there was a clear difference of opinion between the judges and Ms Dell’Olio over how good, or bad, she actually was.

As you can imagine Nancy thought she was the greatest thing to ever happen to the show. Unfortunately, the judges disagreed with her, very strongly. Not surprising seen as though she threatened to sue Bruno Tonioli over the disputes.

She would have had a hard time doing so as I’m sure everyone will agree, no judge or jury on the planet could go against the lovable Bruno.

2.  Ann Widdecombe

Just typing her name brings back visions of the feathery yellow outfit she was dragged across the ballroom floor in, like Tweety bird being towed (see video below). We’re pretty sure if 'terrible dancing' had a dictionary entry then a picture of poor Ann would be under it.

The practice videos showed she had less than no rhythm before she even entered the ballroom on the first week. Managing to place sixth out of fourteen really does say a lot about Anton Du Beke’s ability as a professional. Let’s hope in future seasons he has some better luck with contestants.

1. Russell Grant

How bad do you have to be before show producers decide it’s a good idea to fire you out of a cannon? About as bad as Russell Grant, it turns out (see video below).

In 2011 the TV psychic was so awful that even partner Flavia Cacace couldn’t dance with him properly. So instead of their regular routine, Flavia danced alone why he was pulled through the air by wires resembling a large tortoise caught in a fishing net.

As if that wasn’t bad enough when he landed he threw just his arms around with the odd low kick like some drunken karate master.

Being a psychic he probably should have known beforehand he wasn’t cut out for the show...
