The best I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestants of all time

Thursday 22nd November 2018

There have been over 100 contestants in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! throughout the years, but some of those who have thrust themselves into one of the most challenging reality shows the UK has to offer are more memorable than others.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to take a look back at some of the best, most controversial, and most exciting I’m A Celeb contestants of all time! Here’s who made the cut…

1. Paul Burrell

When Paul entered the jungle all the way back in 2004, the public weren’t exactly on his side. They thought he was using Princess Diana’s name as a cash grab – which wasn’t exactly something he could deny, as he was only famous for being her butler – and so he faced a number of the trials that were thrown the contestants’ way.

One of those – Hellish Holes – saw the tide turn in his favour, however. Paul had to reach inside a number of holes without knowing what was inside, and retrieve a star. His reactions to some of the critters and animals waiting for him were absolutely hilarious, with hosts Ant & Dec doing their best to hold back their laughter so as not to distract him! The result was one of the best trials in the show’s back catalogue.

2. Katie Price and Peter Andre

They may not have had the fairy tale ending we were all expecting, but seeing Katie and Peter fall in love right in front of our eyes was one of the most monumental pieces of reality television of all time.

Whether it was his jungle singing ('Du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du-du... this is insania') or those memorable abs he showed off in the shower, Pete caught Katie’s eyes from the earliest days, and the two would go on to marry and have two kids together.

Unfortunately, the marriage didn't last, and the two are often still in the tabloids today with rumours they’re not getting on.

A shame, as an amicable split would have meant the two could reflect on their time in the jungle together.

3. Lady Colin Campbell

A controversial choice here, as Lady C certainly didn’t have legions of fans outside of the jungle, but it’s hard to deny the incredible impact she had on her series of the show.

Unwilling to put up with any nonsense from hosts Ant and Dec, her fellow campmates, or indeed production, she would kick up a fuss at any given opportunity, much to the viewers' delight (see video below).

Of course, when the public is presented with a character such as Lady C, they’ll do everything in their power to ensure they have as miserable a time as possible.

She was given the opportunity to take part in EIGHT Bushtucker Trials throughout the series, but only came back with 54% total of the stars that were up for grabs. This led to some hangry fellow campmates, and a string of blazing rows; the most memorable of which saw Tony Hadley take on the formidable Lady herself.

He would have the last laugh however, lasting until day 20 following Lady C’s withdrawal from the competition three days earlier.

4. Dean Gaffney

If you’re looking for another campmate who gave some brilliant reactions to his taking part in a Bushtucker Trial, then look no further.

Dean was forced to take part in a live trial as soon as he entered the jungle as a late arrival on Day 5, and gave an incredible performance.

Whether or not he was putting it on a little didn’t matter; it made for fantastic television.

5. Gillian McKeith

As if we could leave Gillian off of this list. Whether or not she faked her live Bushtucker trial fainting is something only she will ever know, but it got the nation talking and is still to this day one of the most memorable moments in the show’s history (see below).

The trial would have been Gillian’s seventh, but she had to be replaced by Linford Christie after being escorted by medics away from the camp. Comedian Dom Joly, musician Shaun Ryder and actress Britt Ekland however weren’t convinced by the fiasco, with Joly saying he could “smell BAFTAs” for the faint.

Despite all of the votes she got for trials, Gillian failed to light a fire in the bellies of those watching enough to gain votes to win. She would be kicked off the show on day 16, with just 2.18% of the vote to save. Her finishing spot was 8th, but to be honest, we imagine she was happy to escape the jungle.
