The Emmy Awards recognise the excellence of American primetime TV and are seen as the highest honour in the TV world.

In 2016 the cast of Games of Thrones, The People Vs OJ Simpson and Sherlock all took home gongs.

The Emmys have been held since 1949 and over the years they have grown in popularity, with every actor and actress hoping to achieve this special accolade.

The date for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards is Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Cafe worker Sian Hamshaw bookies' favourite for Big Brother victory

The bookies have opened betting on the new series of Big Brother. Coral makes cafe worker Sian Hamshaw, 25, the 7/2 early favourite to win.

Zoe Jones is the 9/2 second favourite.

This marks the final Big Brother series ever on Channel 5.

Peaky Blinders moves to BBC One for fifth series to 'attract younger viewers'

Peaky Blinders is moving to BBC One to 'attract younger viewers' to the channel, revealed controller Charlotte Moore at Edinburgh TV Festival.

The hit gangster series has become a cult phenomenon on BBC Two since launching in 2013.

It’s played a key part in the incredible resurgence of drama on the channel over the last five years.

Israel win Eurovision while UK entry SuRie battles stage invader

Israel's Netta Barzilai has won the Eurovision Song Contest with her quirky offering 'Toy'.

The singer was awarded 529 points after a nail biting finish, beating favourites Cyprus into second place.

Elsewhere UK entry SuRie had to battle an unwelcome guest in the shape of a stage invader.

A man dressed in a shirt and bandana rushed onto the stage while she was singing 'Storm' and shouted: "Nazis of the UK media... We demand freedom."

SuRie finished third from bottom with 48 points.

The girls win! Here's what 'fittest girl' Mettisse had to say about splitting the cash

The girls completed the ultimate team challenge in 9 mins and 58 seconds – two minutes faster than the boys.

When faced with choosing mates or dates to split the £40,000 prize money, 'fittest girl' Mettisse Campbell , voted for by the public vote, went with her team. Well done girls!

Rebekah Shelton NOT dead – Big Brother star tweets saying her account was 'hacked'

Rebekah Shelton, formerly Rodrigo Lopez, sent out this video and tweet following the false news she had 'died'.

She has consulted her lawyer and says the person who hacked her account will 'pay for it'.

Bookies' favourite Joe McFadden and dance partner Katya Jones lift the Glitterball trophy after winning Strictly Come Dancing. 

They beat Gemma Atkinson, Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke in the final.

The new series of Dancing on Ice is back in the New Year, starting on Sunday, January 7 from 6pm on ITV.

Celebrities taking part are Brooke Vincent, Cheryl Baker, Kem Cetinay, Candice Brown, Max Evans, Jake Quickenden, Lemar, Alex Beresford, Donna Air, Perri Shakes-Drayton, Antony Cotton and Stephanie Waring.
