Denmark's anthemic offering Higher Ground at this year's Eurovision Song Contest could well be a step too far for its singer Jonas Flodager Ramussen.

Rasmussen, aged 33, and has an accomplished CV as both a performance coach and acting in musicals such as West Side Story and Les Misérables.

He has also performed in a choir on stage with The Rolling Stones and in tribute concerts for music legends including Elton John, Paul McCartney and Abba.

Higher Ground was inspired by the Viking Magnus Erlendsson and his refusal to fight in the Battle of Anglesey Sound in 1098. Contrary to standard depictions of Viking inclinations, Erlendsson believed in non-violence, and would have none of the fighting, looting and pillaging.

When the two composers Higher Ground saw Rasmussen perform, they were sure they had found the right performer for the song.

The Danes believe that the Contest with its theme All Aboard and bringing people together should be the perfect time to share the legendary story of Higher Ground.

The song is written, composed and produced by Niclas Arn and Karl Eurén.
