The X Factor Betting Tips

Much in the same way as it is relevant to a horse race to be informed of the course conditions and challenges, the history of the horse's success at the race track and its chances against the competition, so it is vital when betting on Reality TV to have a real understanding of the demands made on the contestants. Our leading Reality TV specialist Suzi Cairns gives a perspective on what to look out for.

Air Time

Reality Tv falls into two categories, those programmes which rely on the talents of the public and then those who use Celebrity to draw the viewers to their screens. However with either category a key factor to winning the show is air time, if a contestant does not draw the cameras, whether their actions are endearing or not, they have no hope of wiinning the public's attention or their essential telephone vote . Characters who fade into the background will be deemed dull and boring, the producers will not dwell on them and even if they are not evicted frst they will not win.

Red Tops

It is no coincidence that the huge surge in Reality TV betting markets has coincided with their extensive coverage in the popular press or 'Red Tops' as they are commonly known. The bookies understand that the huge numbers that are drawn to follow these popular shows are reflected in the volume of column inches in the press and assure them a captive audience of millions. From the punter's point of view following the media coverage of contestants, celebrity or otherwse, will give real pointers as to their likely success. Reports in the press of indulgence or excess will effect their votes negtively, as in the case of Frankie Cocozza in 2011, whereas revelations about Jahmene Douglas' tortuous childhood at the hands of a subsequently imprisoned Father endeared him further to the viewers. Red Top coverage of the X Factor is definetly something to watch when considering betting on this show.

Personality Or Perfection ?

When assessing the potential of any of the finalists it is easy to assume that the most technically capable will win, however the reality is a lot less clear cut. A vocal acrobat able to use a variety of techniques and commanding a broad vocal range will inevitably command rspect and appreciation but if their personality is stiff, arrogant or humourless they will fade in the limelight . The interviews with Diarmid Gavin make a big impression on the viewers and if they seem personable but modest when appealing to the country to pick up the phones they will likely suceed. It is also significant to add at this point that evn if a singer has perfect pitch and tone and has an attractive personality, if their image and preferred style of music is out of pace with current trends in the music scene they will not reach the winners' podium.
